About The Healthy Giving Fund
The Fund is the heart of HealthyGiving.com. There are so many worthy organizations, and initially we
planned to distribute the Fund among a number of these organizations, particularly the Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation (JDRF). We soon realized that the Fund would have a stronger and more
immediate impact if used to support individuals in need who are dealing with chronic disease, particularly
the complications of diabetes. Those with limited resources in need of supplements may be referred by
their physician, nurse practitioner, or dietician for at cost or below cost products (see Customer Care for
Referral Form). As the Fund grows, it will be used to directly impact the lives of individuals by providing
funds for special equipment, treatments, or services. Fund contributions from equine supplements will
be used to help equines with chronic disease in the same ways, primarily via the Horse Rehab Sanctuary.

As a nation we are very generous in contributing to thousands of charities and organizations.
Organizations that fund research, provide care and assistance, protect and educate. Below are listed just
a few of those that we support. Unfortunately there are also funds that are not well managed and do not
use your dollars wisely. You may want to utilize the "Recommended Websites to Guide You When Giving"
listed below.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the leading charitable funder and advocate of
juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $680
million in direct funding to diabetes research with more than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly
supporting research and research-related education. JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for
diabetes and its complications through the support of research. JDRF Stands Out Among Charities
The Children's Inn at NIH. Children and families travel from around the world to the National Institutes of
Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD because conventional treatments have failed to have sufficient impact on
their illnesses. The Inn provides a place for families and children to be together at the end of the day, in a
warm and relaxing environment where kids can be kids again and families support each other. 72 cents
of every dollar goes directly to the program.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to find
cures for children with catastrophic illnesses through research and treatment. Approximately 4,500
patients are seen at St. Jude yearly. ALSAC / St. Jude covers all costs not covered by insurance for
medical treatment rendered at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Families without insurance are
never asked to pay.
Horse Rescue Funds, such as the Horse Rehab Sanctuary and The Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc.
a non-profit organization focused on the prevention of equine abuse. They care for abused, neglected,
starved, and slaughter bound horses and provide educational opportunities to the general public on
horsemanship and horse care.
ASPCA and local SPCA organizations, for example, The Roanoke Valley SPCA. They work to prevent
cruelty to animals, relieve their suffering, provide education and adoptions.
